For the second year, the Central Jersey Diaper Bank is asking for financial donations to support their busy program providing free diapers, wipes, clothes, formula, and other basic needs to low-income families. The Diaper Bank is the only one in the area, this year distributing over 100,000 diapers to more than 700 families of all religions and races in the greater Middlesex County community

In honor of Mother's Day, the supporters are asked to make a mom's day brighter by donating in a range of amounts: $36 helps provide diapers and wipes for two weeks; $1,000, helps provide diapers and wipes for 12 months, plus six new baby outfits and a car seat. Any amount is appreciated, and all donations go directly to services for families.

The need is great: costing over $100 a month, diapers are an expense many families struggle to afford. Day care providers do not accept babies without disposable diapers. Without child-care, parents cannot go to work or school. No government program covers the cost of diapers, and babies crying from being in a soiled diaper for prolonged periods are more likely to be abused by caregivers. Laundromats do not allow the washing of cloth diapers. In local low-income families, babies can spend a whole day in a single diaper, while parents choose between paying for food and rent or keeping their babies clean and comfortable.

A program of the non-profit Anshe Emeth Community Development Corporation, the Diaper Bank has been serving families since 2010. All donations are tax-deductible.
